General Fabrics

The Client

Established in 1950, General Fabrics is a family owned business, which is a textile converter and distributor of home and sewing fabrics.  Their business relies heavily on EDI to process their orders.

The Situation

General Fabrics was running their business on a software solution that was totally customized for their industry.  They started experiencing problems when they could no longer receive support for this system because the company had changed ownership several times and the original developers and support personnel were no longer available.  They needed to move to a product that had a solid foundation, was fully integrated, could be tailored to meet their industry specific needs, and had a strong support channel behind it.

The Solution

With Competitive Edge Services as a partner, General Fabrics replaced their customized software solution with Microsoft Dynamics NAV, which was customized to handle their industry specific business needs.

Key Benefits

  • Totally integrated modules
  • Local and accessible support
  • Strong EDI functionality
  • Ability to include customizations such as the item SKU builder
  • One-stop support since CES provided both NAV and infrastructure support

Testimonial

“We are a small company dealing not only with the sophisticated ordering systems of our nations biggest retailers, but also a myriad of independent fabric stores across the country.  Having both hardware & software support from a solid provider like CES, has allowed us to grow & succeed in a competitive market, without our own IT department.  That’s huge to me!”
